The Upper Elementary program builds on the content of the Lower Elementary curriculum. It expands the awareness of the students and gives them a sense of their place in the society and universe. Students continue to pursue a deeper understanding of topics, delve deeply into the work from 6-9 class, and develop a greater concentration in their work.
Students also work together, and inspire one another in both their academic and social skills. At this age, they are able to develop their own research, reasoning, and communications skills. Time management, organization, and setting reasonable, responsible goals are a top priority. |
Cosmic Education and Deeper ExplorationIn the 9-12 class, the children are ready to go deeper to explore more in detail. So once again, at the beginning of the year, the 9-12 children will hear the great stories (all 5 of them). This once again sets the stage for cosmic education. Hearing these stories spark ideas of deeper exploration for the children.

"Going Out" and Field ExplorationUpper Students "Go Out" into the real world so they can learn more about a particular topic when their quest for understanding requires more than the resources of the classroom. Students plan and prepare for the outing, conduct themselves with dignity while out in public, and return to share their research with the rest of the class. In the 9-12 class, the children in particular explore service to society. They go out for COMMUNITY SERVICE. During this age, the children have a need to find their place in society and community service is a great way to fulfill that desire and need.
